Wildlife Conservation Initiative Restoration of Ecosystem

Wildlife Conservation Initiative (WCI) is deeply committed to engaging youth in meaningful climate action. Through innovative events such as sports for conservation, Sounds of Nature events, and community work like Umuganda, we are fostering a generation that understands the importance of environmental stewardship. Our tree planting campaigns are a key component of these efforts, designed to mitigate the impacts of climate change while instilling a sense of responsibility and connection to nature in young people.

Our impact is tangible. To date, WCI has grown 44,000 tree seedlings and successfully planted 42,400 trees, with an impressive 38,100 trees thriving across various locations. Looking ahead, we aim to plant 120,000 trees over the next two years and restore 150 hectares of land within the next year, adding to the 51 hectares we have already restored. These efforts have not only contributed significantly to environmental conservation but have also created 457 jobs, supported by 12 dedicated volunteers who share our commitment to preserving our planet.

WCI’s approach to conservation is grounded in sustainability. Our tree planting efforts boast high survival rates, with indigenous trees showing a 95% success rate in nursery beds and a 93% survival rate at their permanent locations. These achievements reflect our dedication to not only planting trees but ensuring they grow and thrive, contributing to the long-term restoration of ecosystems.

Our vision at WCI is to save ecosystems and ensure the sustainable development of local communities. We believe that by engaging the current generation to love and protect the environment, we can make a lasting impact on our planet’s future.
